Say Yes! to Kids 2022 campaign raises more than $150,000
With one more week to go, the Anglican Foundation of Canada’s (AFC) 2nd annual Say Yes! to Kids campaign has met its 2022 fundraising goal of $150,000.
“We had 21 fundraising teams in 13 dioceses join this year’s campaign,” says Dr. Scott Brubacher, AFC’s Executive Director. “This was an entirely new model of resourcing churches for ministry, so we didn’t know exactly what to expect. But we are very pleased to see this peer-to-peer initiative grow as much as it has this year. It has shown us what can be achieved when we work together to grow a brighter future for young people.”
The team fundraising challenges have been numerous. Michelle Hauser, AFC’s Communications and Development Consultant says, “Our teams have walked, danced, sang, cheered, bowled, held board game marathons, and more. They have worked almost as hard at community-building as fundraising.”
Hauser says seven Say Yes! to Kids teams achieved or surpassed their goals, and another six have come very close, reaching approximately 90% or more of their goal. “We had a group of teams with stretch goals for more ambitious projects,” says Hauser, “and this campaign has been an excellent opportunity for them to connect with new donors and tell their story.”
Say Yes! to Kids fundraising goals ranged from $2,000 to $25,000 and covered a variety of impact zones including: outdoor recreation, Indigenous ministries, faith formation, alleviating poverty, education enrichment, and arts and music.
“The 2022 campaign model has laid the groundwork for Say Yes! to Kids to be a long-term effort,” says Brubacher, “one we believe can strengthen parishes and dioceses for a new kind of fundraising, while also becoming a source of sustainable funding for youth-focused ministry and outreach across the Canadian church.”
Online donations to Say Yes! to Kids will continue to be accepted until July 15. Donations by cheque will continue to be processed for several more weeks after that. The final campaign totals will be announced in August. Visit campaign headquarters at www.anglicanfoundation.org/kids.
