An Update on AFC’s Response to COVID-19

As all of us are living into the fourth week of this new reality called pandemic, we continue to stand by you: our colleagues, friends, and donors. The entire world has become affected with a virus that presents monumental challenges-with a duration about which no one can make any reliable predictions. We hear over and over again that we are in this together, and so I am writing to let you know what the Anglican Foundation is doing during this period of time.

Where we are now…
With the closure of the National Office at 80 Hayden Street in Toronto, AFC staff are working remotely from home where we are set up to continue our work as fulsomely as possible. The best way to reach us is at [email protected]

Our mission now…
Our mission continues-to serve faith communities all across Canada with abundant resources for innovative ministry, diverse infrastructure projects, and theological formation.

Recognizing that some parishes face challenging financial situations during this pandemic, AFC made the decision to offer our loan recipients a deferral of loan payment program. Our mission during this time is to ease the financial burden that many are facing.

Here’s what we are doing next…
Our semi-annual grant cycle continues as normal with a meeting of the Board of Directors scheduled in May where applications will be reviewed and grants awarded. The Annual General Meeting will be held this year via Zoom and teleconference on May 20 at 5 pm Eastern Time. All current AFC donors will receive an invitation this month and will need to RSVP in order to attend.

In light of serious issues for our planet resulting from climate change, we extended a Request for Proposals for 2020 called “20/20 Vision,” setting aside $50,000 for parishes engaged in climate initiatives. We have already received a number of creative and resourceful proposals, and the successful proposals will be announced later this summer.

Here’s what you can do…
Please continue to give if you can. We need your regular donations as ever before.

Consider donating online rather than mailing a cheque during our office closure.

Go to www.anglicanfoundation.org/donate/

Scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the donation form.

We recognize that some donors may be stretched financially at this time.

We also recognize that some donors still have capacity to give.

We are deeply grateful for the many ways that you support AFC. Thank you.

Together let us do whatever we can to help and support our fellow Anglicans, our churches, and our country. We will get through this together as people of faith.

Yours sincerely,

Judy Rois
Executive Director
