AFC Board Approves $166,000 to 12 Applicants
The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) Board of Directors met online on September 12, 2024, and approved $166,000 in grants to 12 applicants in 12 dioceses, bringing the 2024 grants total to date to more than $560,000.
“It was encouraging to see the full breadth of AFC’s granting program this cycle, with grants awarded in all five of our funding impact zones,” says Dr. Scott Brubacher, Executive Director. “The grants awarded also represent wide-ranging parts of the country—literally from coast to coast to coast—from Alert Bay, BC, to Iqaluit, NU, to Gander, NL.”
The Q3 Grants Cycle also saw two more Category C grants awarded, with $50,000 to Christ Church, Alert Bay, BC, and $30,000 to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Dawson City, YT.
Projects approved in the 3rd quarter granting cycle include:
Community Ministries: $10,000
- St. Christopher’s Parish Church, West Vancouver, BC (Diocese of New Westminster), Community Outreach Food Ministry: $5,000
- St. John the Evangelist, Cold Lake, AB (Diocese of Edmonton), NEW Group: $5,000
Diverse Infrastructure: $86,000
- Emmanuel Anglican Church, Halifax, NS (Diocese of NS & PEI), Foundation Repair: $10,000
- Snow Lake Anglican United Church, Snow Lake, MB (Diocese of Brandon), Roof Replacement: $10,000
- St. John’s Anglican Church, Nipawin, SK (Diocese of Saskatchewan), Chair Lift Installation: $11,000
- St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral, Gander, NL (Diocese of Central Newfoundland), Heater and Cooling Modernization: $15,000
- St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Dawson City, YT (Diocese of Yukon), Warming Our Hearts: $30,000
- St. Jude’s Cathedral, Iqualuit, NU (Diocese of the Arctic), Repainting of Building 659: $10,000
Indigenous Ministries: $50,000
- Christ Church, Alert Bay, BC (Diocese of Islands & Inlets), Restoration & Renewal: $50,000
Leadership & Education: $15,000
- Diocese of Rupert’s Land—Discipleship Ministry, Winnipeg, MB, Mobile Discipleship Hub: $5,000
- University of Guelph Ecumenical Campus Ministry, Guelph, ON (Diocese of Niagara), Student Leadership Program: $10,000
Sacred Music & Liturgical Arts: $5,000
- Parish of Christ Church, Edmonton, AB (Diocese of Edmonton), Diocese of Edmonton Children’s Choir: $5,000
