St. Laurence Calgary is a small parish that dreams big. We dreamed of a virtual centre or network that would help with the work renewing our collective spiritual life in the 21st century. In 2006 we launched The Wisdom Centre. In 2007 the Anglican Foundation came alongside with a grant to put on our first conference and get our website launched (www.wisdomcentre.ca). Today, in 2019 we are going strong with a network of over 700 people and a consistent program of high-quality retreats, conferences, and courses.
The Anglican Foundation also provided St Laurence with a grant to help renovate our sanctuary. We went from an inaccessible, dated space (stairs, faded carpet, and macramé!) to a fully accessible sanctuary that accommodates renewed Sunday worship and is also a fantastic space for Wisdom Centre events and lectures. We are grateful.
