At Queen’s College I witnessed the tremendous impact AFC bursaries had on students’ financial well-being. They could concentrate on their studies and not be distracted by financial worries. The partnership of the sponsoring dioceses, the College’s scholarship trusts, and AFC met their financial needs. Three outstanding students called The Three Graces, Christine Lynch (Eastern Newfoundland & Labrador—currently a Dean of Mission), Kay Short (Dean of Western Newfoundland) and Tryphena Vallis (Central Newfoundland—entrusted to my great grandmother’s town), were featured in the Anglican Journal (March 2015). All graduated with no additional debt in 2016 and received Hope Bears at Convocation.
