The Anglican Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce that it will be the Visionary Sponsor for General Synod 2019, the triennial meeting of the Anglican Church of Canada, which will be taking place on July 10-16, 2019 in Vancouver, British Columbia. This generous donation of $25,000 will help to support this important decision-making body of the church. As Visionary Sponsor, AFC will be front and centre during the proceedings, with remarks to delegates from the Foundation’s Executive Director, the Rev. Canon Dr. Judy Rois, as well as recognition from the Primate Fred Hiltz, who also serves as the Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The Foundation’s logo will be featured on display screens and marketing materials associated with the meeting. AFC hopes to raise awareness of the work and impact of the Foundation on the life of the Anglican Church and to invite parishes and individuals to partner with it in supporting ministry across Canada by making an annual contribution.
Since its inception in 1957, the Anglican Foundation of Canada has benefited every diocese, hundreds of parishes, and thousands of Canadian Anglicans through grants and loans totalling over $34 million. Annual grant disbursements have doubled in the last eight years, through the generosity of donors. AFC hopes to disburse $1 million in grants in 2019 as a sign of its ongoing commitment to the church.
The theme for General Synod 2019 is: “I Have Called You By Name” (Isaiah 43:1).
