
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Scott Brubacher was appointed Executive Director of the Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) in 2021, after serving for six years as the Foundation’s Executive Administrator (2015–2021). With more than a decade of leadership experience with the organization, he has worked closely with the Board of Directors to advance a strategic vision for AFC as a catalyst for new ministry, growth, and community impact across the Anglican Church of Canada. He is the seventh Executive Director since AFC was established in 1957 and only the second lay person to serve in the role. He resides in Toronto and works from the National Office of the Anglican Church of Canada.
Scott is widely recognized for articulating the role of philanthropy as a partner in mission and ministry across Canada. A frequent speaker at synods, diocesan gatherings, and national church events, he brings a collaborative and forward-looking perspective to strengthening ministry through charitable giving. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, reflecting his commitment to best practices in philanthropic leadership.
Prior to joining AFC, Scott served as Academic Program Manager, Examinations for The Royal Conservatory of Music, Assistant Manager of the Anglican Book Centre, and Lecturer in music theory at the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University in London, Ontario.
Born and raised in London, Ontario, Scott pursued advanced study in music composition, earning a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Toronto and a Master of Music in Composition from Western University in London, Ontario. An award-winning composer and musician, his choral works have been performed by leading choirs in Canada and the United States. His large-scale composition Gilgamesh, an 11-movement song cycle inspired by the ancient epic, was developed through workshops at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, and was recently released on the Navona Records label.
