AFC Board Meets in Edmonton, Approves $160,000 to 24 Applicants
The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) Board of Directors met in Edmonton on May 22–23, 2024, and approved $160,000 in grants to 24 applicants in 17 Dioceses, bringing the 2024 grants total to date to $325,000. The Board also approved a loan of up to $100,000 for a roofing project in the Diocese of Quebec.
The Board welcomed the Rt. Rev. Stephen London, Bishop of Edmonton, who shared an update on Music Mends Minds and other recent projects funded in his Diocese. “People come to me with creative ideas that have come out of the relationships they have developed, and they want to know where to go for funding,” said Bishop Stephen, “and more times than not AFC says yes.”
The two-day meeting also included discussion about the pending move of the Anglican Church of Canada to a new location, expected in early 2026, and its impact on AFC operations. The AFC Board began the process of considering relocating the AFC office which may include an opportunity to join the ACC at 300 Bloor Street. The Board agreed that all options that might be beneficial to AFC’s staff and community will be considered.
