Welcome New Directors

Seasoned Archdeacon and Distinguished Research Executive Join AFC Board

The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) is pleased to welcome two new members to its Board of Directors: The Venerable Jonathan Hoskin of the Diocese of Brandon and Dr. Charles Randell of the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland & Labrador.

Together, they bring a wealth of experience in ministry, leadership, governance, and community service that will strengthen AFC’s ability to support Anglican ministries across Canada.

Canon Brad Smith, Chair of AFC’s Governance & Nominating Committee. “Archdeacon Jonathan brings deep pastoral experience, a proven commitment to congregational renewal, and a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing dioceses and parishes today. Dr. Randell contributes extensive governance, leadership, and strategic planning expertise gained through a distinguished professional career and decades of service to the Church. Together, they will strengthen the Board’s ability to serve AFC’s mission across Canada.”

The Ven. Jonathan Hoskin – Biography

Archdeacon Hoskin brings more than two decades of ordained ministry experience across multiple dioceses and ministry contexts. He currently serves as Archdeacon of Brandon Archdeaconry (South) and provides leadership to both a Lutheran–Anglican parish in Brandon and a United–Anglican shared ministry in Souris. Throughout his ministry, he has demonstrated a gift for building relationships, guiding congregations through periods of transition, and helping communities discover new opportunities for mission, discipleship, and growth.

Dr. Charles Randell – Biography

Charles Randell brings extensive executive and governance experience to the Board. A retired engineer and former President and CEO of C-CORE, one of Canada’s leading research and development organizations, Dr. Randell spent his career leading innovation, building partnerships, and overseeing complex organizations. His distinguished professional accomplishments include recognition as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs and induction as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Alongside his professional career, he has remained deeply engaged in parish life through leadership roles, volunteer service, and ministry formation.

The addition of Archdeacon Hoskin and Dr. Randell reflects AFC’s commitment to building a Board that draws on a broad range of gifts, perspectives, and experiences from across the Anglican Church of Canada. Their combined expertise in ministry, governance, leadership, and strategic planning will be a valuable asset as AFC continues its mission of supporting innovative ministries, strengthening communities, and investing in the future of the Church.
