Grant Help is Here!

AFC grant applicants can now consult model application

In an effort to make the Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) granting program more accessible to applicants, we are pleased to be able to share a Model Grant Application from the parish of Hammond River – Holy Trinity Church in Quispamsis, NB, in the Diocese of Fredericton.

“In 2023, Holy Trinity applied for, and received, a Category B grant to support an accessible washroom project,” says Scott Brubacher, Executive Director, AFC. “The application was quickly identified as a potential model grant application. We are grateful to Holy Trinity and the Diocese of Fredericton for giving us permission to share their work, as a resource for other grant-seekers to consult when putting together their own applications.”

Brubacher says many churches struggle with the project description aspect of the grant application. “In a previous grant tips blog I encouraged applicants to simply answer the questions in section 3.3 in order. This application from Holy Trinity is an excellent example of a church that followed that template. They also provided the proper supplemental materials to accompany a Diverse Infrastructure application, including quotes for the work and the property insurance documentation.”

Brubacher says his staff frequently work with grant applicants to assemble incomplete applications but emphasizes that it is important to strive to have as much of the application in order as possible at the time of submission.

The next AFC grant application deadline is April 1. For more information on how to apply visit www.anglicanfoundation.org/apply or email [email protected].
