Diocese of Huron ACW Matching Gift to Propel Camp Huron Campaign to $20,000 Goal
The Anglican Foundation of Canada’s (AFC) 2024 Say Yes! to Kids campaign has received a remarkable $10,000 matching gift from the Diocese of Huron ACW in support of the Diocese of Huron Says Yes! to Camp Huron campaign.
“Our Diocesan ACW has been a major supporter of both Say Yes! to Kids and Camp Huron,” says Pam Walters, Diocesan ACW President. “We are thrilled to have the capacity to champion both of these important causes this spring with this matching gift.”
The Huron ACW will match up to $10,000 all donations to the Diocese of Huron Says Yes! to Camp Huron team, which is highlighting the need for camp bursaries. “We are so grateful to the Anglican Church Women of the Diocese of Huron for this leadership gift,” says the Rev. Canon Gerry Adam, Director, Camp Huron. “Camp Huron believes that no child should be turned away because of their financial circumstances. The people of Huron have a long history of reducing financial barriers to attending camp, but the demand grows every year.”
“This is an exceptional partnership between AFC, the Diocese of Huron, Camp Huron, and the Diocesan ACW,” says Diane Dance, AFC’s Diocesan Representative for Huron. “Huron Anglicans have given generously to Say Yes! to Kids since it began in 2021, and I am very hopeful that this matching gift will help this to be our most successful campaign ever.”
Dance says she anticipates that this leadership gift may have the secondary benefit of motivating other Diocesan ACWs in Canada to support Say Yes! to Kids campaigns in their dioceses as well.
There are approximately 30 teams from 21 dioceses participating in the nationwide Say Yes! to Kids campaign this year, which will make it the largest and most geographically diverse campaign since the program was launched in 2021. And for every $20 donated to the Huron team, $4 will support the Anglican Foundation’s grants to national youth ministries.
