The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) was established in 1957 on the principle of parish membership and on the idea that churches would work together, to help one another, and further the goals of the church nationally, keeping the big-picture view in our hearts and minds.
Today, there are over 1,100 active members of AFC across the country, including many churches. These annual membership donations form the backbone of our granting program.
The benefits of membership include receipt of our print and online newsletters which ensure that members are always in the know about new funding opportunities. Through regular grant recipient profiles, our members also learn about exciting projects happening across the Anglican Church of Canada, which feeds the sense of hope and possibility our church needs today more than ever: if it worked for them, maybe it can work for us!
AFC’s member churches often see their annual donation as part of their outreach to the church across Canada and give generously with the understanding that “God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
This year all Anglican churches across Canada are being invited to prayerfully consider becoming annual members of AFC—or renewing their memberships—at the Companion ($100 to $499) or Benefactor level ($500 to $1,000), based on your means.
By welcoming more Anglican churches into our family of members, we hope to strengthen our capacity to fund transformational ministry. We also hope to energize the church for the kind of bold action that results from breaking down silos and engaging with the wisdom and experience of other churches across Canada.
