“This partnership reflects a deeper shift in the Foundation’s mission,” says Scott Brubacher. “One of the stretch goals of our recent strategic plan was to evolve into a more Strategic Foundation—not just a granting organization but a partner in helping dioceses realize bold, visionary goals for the future. The Anne Germond Legacy Fund is a perfect example of that.

“We are incredibly grateful for Burgundy Asset Management’s continued partnership,” says Dr. Scott Brubacher, Executive Director, AFC. “Their long-standing support—now totaling more than $23,000 since 2015—reflects a powerful commitment to helping young people reach their full potential.” Burgundy Asset Management has a strong track record of investing in initiatives that promote justice, inclusion, and opportunity.

“Our Diocesan ACW has long supported both Say Yes! to Kids and Camp Huron,” says Pam Walters, Diocesan ACW President. “We were proud to offer a matching gift in 2024, and we’re just as proud to do so again in 2025. It’s our way of showing continued commitment to young people and the power of Christian camping. We also hope other ACWs in Canada will support some of the other 30 teams participating in the Say Yes! to Kids campaign this year.”

Approximately half of the national proceeds from the Anglican Foundation of Canada’s 2024 Say Yes! to Kids campaign are helping to launch Fire Talk, a new Indigenous youth mental health initiative. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see Say Yes! to Kids supporting this kind of transformative work,” says Dr. Scott Brubacher, Executive Director of AFC. “With this grant, the national total for Indigenous youth initiatives funded by Say Yes! to Kids now stands at $50,000—and we’re just getting started.”

“This is a great example of how modest, strategic grants can have a high impact when they’re rooted in a parish’s long-standing commitment to its neighbourhood,” says Brubacher. “Through our Community Ministries Fund, AFC is deepening its support for churches that are responding with faith and courage to some of the most urgent social challenges in their communities…Whether it’s a $5,000 grant or a larger investment, what matters is the impact—and in Timmins, that impact is clear. St. Matthew’s is being the Church in the world.”

“The Sunday meal program shows how even small congregations can meet complex challenges with creativity and courage,” says Brubacher. “Through our Category C grants and the Community Ministries Fund, AFC is helping churches like St. Saviour’s take on leadership roles in their cities—meeting urgent needs while embodying the Church’s call to love and serve. This is what we mean when we talk about being a strategic partner. AFC isn’t just funding good ideas—we’re investing in ministries that transform lives.”

The AFC Board of Directors has approved $50,000 in funding, with grants available for both local and regional projects that foster collaboration between Anglican organizations and external community partners. “AFC continues to prioritize partnerships as a powerful model for sustainable ministry,” says Dr. Scott Brubacher, Executive Director. “This RFP is an opportunity for Anglican communities to deepen their outreach by collaborating with like-minded organizations that share their mission and vision.”

At its meeting on February 27, 2025, the AFC Board approved $148,500 in funding for 11 applicants, including: $50,000 to St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral, Nelson, BC. Through the Community Ministries Fund, AFC is supporting churches across Canada who are ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors have access to nourishing meals and welcoming spaces.

Thanks to the generosity of Canadian Anglicans, AFC awarded more than $56,000 in 2024 bursaries for theological education to 25 students across various programs.
