“It is hoped that through their experience of this installation, people will grow in their understanding of and appreciation for Indigenous culture and wisdom about how to live a good life,” says the Rev. Jonathan Khouri, priest-in-charge at St. Paul’s. “This will also be a place where people can come to seek healing and reconciliation in their relationships.”

“I am so proud of our youth who attended, as they showed their courage and strength to attend an event so far from home and context. The Indigenous youth look forward to again being able and blessed to participate and be acknowledged as members of the church and to celebrate youthful energetic faith with all young Christians from across this broad and glorious land we together call home.”

As Grants Committee members commended individual projects, they spoke of both the sense of “urgency” and “delight” in supporting as many applicants as possible and acknowledged AFC’s role in providing not just funding but “peace of mind,” especially to those churches seeking to repair damaged or at-risk infrastructure.

Whether motivated by their love for sacred music, belief in the value of leadership and education, a vision to reduce poverty, or a desire to support the Indigenous church, an increasing number of Canadian Anglicans are partnering with AFC to achieve their philanthropic goals.
