This past May, I retired from the Board of Directors of the Anglican Foundation. It has been quite a ride. My five years on the Board reviewing grant applications, listening to testimonials from grant recipients and visiting their projects, opened my eyes to the vitality and creativity of Anglican churches in communities large and small across Canada.

I am writing to you as we enter the fourth month into the global crisis of COVID-19, a pandemic that has thrown the world into an unfamiliar landscape of overwhelming uncertainty. The 20th century Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov once said, “Any idiot can face a crisis—it’s the day to day living that wears you out.”

The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) has announced $50,000 to 20 proposals addressing the crisis of climate change. AFC’s board of directors met via Zoom on May 20-21, 2020 during which time it reviewed 28 proposals from across Canada.
